TEDxCommunity App

The TEDxCommunity app is an open-source and free-to-use tool designed to help organize a TEDx event. It provides various capabilities to assist the event team throughout the entire process, including speaker selection, contact tracking, coaching, and bag preparation.

Download & Configuration

To use the TEDxCommunity app, follow these configuration steps:

  1. Download the app: You can download the TEDxCommunity app on the following platforms:

    1. iOS: Download from TestFlight
    2. Android: Download from Firebase App Distribution
    3. Web: Access the app online
  2. Create an admin account: After downloading the app, create an admin account by signing up with your email address and password.

  3. Create License TEDx profile: As an admin, you can create and manage license TEDx profiles within the app. These profiles represent the authorized users who can access and use the app.

Functionality

The app has this capabilities:

  1. Speaker Selection: Use the app to help with the selection of speakers for your TEDx event. Keep track of speakers who have been contacted and those who have rejected the invite.

  2. Speaker assignment: Use the app to assign the speaker to the team member. This helps team get work done the fastest way.

  3. Contact Tracking: The app allows you to monitor the progress of speaker contact and keep records of the communication status.

  4. Coaching: Utilize the app to assist with coaching sessions for selected speakers, providing them with valuable feedback and guidance.

  5. Bag Preparation: The app includes a section dedicated to preparing bags for the TEDx event, ensuring smooth logistics and organization.

There are four types of users with different capabilities:

  1. Admin: Can perform all actions within the app, including managing license TEDx profiles, speaker selection, contact tracking, coaching, and event preparation.
  2. Master: Has similar capabilities as the admin, but cannot manage license TEDx profiles. Can assign speakers to volunteers for speaker selection.
  3. Coach: Dedicated to speaker coaching. Can access a smaller version of the app focused on coaching and preparing speakers for the event.
  4. Volunteer: Can add speakers to the app and can be assigned as a speaker by the admin or master. Can change the status of speakers within the app during various stages of speaker selection and preparation.

The TEDxCommunity was developed by Francesco Vezzani, a member of TEDxCortina, with special thanks to Giovanni Concini for being the first supporter of the app and for creating some of the powerful functionalities. Additional credits go to Elisa Andrenacci, Edonella Bresci, Manuela Marangoni and Jacopo Pertile for their valuable feedback and support. Thanks to the entire TEDxCortina team for continuously pushing the app further.

The work on the app began in 2021 with the aim to improve the overall experience of organizing the TEDx events. Since then, the app has undergone continuous development and updates to provide the best possible experience for TEDxCommunity users.
